Got a question?

Discovering Our Purpose

At some point in our lives, many of us find ourselves pondering the question: “Why am I here, and what is my purpose in life?” This quest for meaning can lead to an existential crisis, but can also be the catalyst to positive change.

At Sydney City Couples Counselling we can help you tap into your forgotten talents, neglected interests and unrealised potential, we can help you thrive rather than simply survive. Identifying what lights you up could be the first step towards personal growth and discovery.

Providing Emotional Support

The load lightens when we share our thoughts with someone who is emotionally supportive. Opening up about our feelings and aspirations can create an environment of infinite possibilities.

Faulty Thought Processes

Cognitive distortions are irrational thoughts that can affect our emotions. Although most people experience cognitive distortions to some extent, they can be harmful when they become chronic.

At Sydney City Couples Counselling we can help identify faulty thought processes. We can assist with challenging irrational thoughts and the domino effects that follow with mood and behaviour if left unchecked. We will help you identify your blind spots and how to reframe your thought processes.

Boosting Your Self-Esteem, Nurturing Self-Care, and Achieving Thriving Results

By consistently participating in activities that promote self-care, we can improve our overall quality of life. These activities can include exercise, meditation, spending time in nature, connecting with loved ones, pursuing hobbies, or seeking therapy. By prioritizing self-care, we not only improve our mental and physical health but also increase our self-esteem and overall sense of well-being.

When we take care of ourselves, we are better equipped to handle stress and challenges in our lives. This leads to greater resilience, confidence, and a sense of accomplishment. By focusing on self-care and boosting our self-esteem, we are not only improving our own lives but also setting an example for those around us. Let’s prioritize our well-being and achieve thriving results in our daily lives.

Recognizing the Signs: Understanding the Differences Between Burnout and Depression

Differentiating between burnout and depression can be challenging as the symptoms of both can overlap. However, there are some key differences between them that can help you manage and treat them better.

Burnout is a state of emotional, physical, and mental exhaustion caused by prolonged stress. This can make it challenging to perform daily tasks such as work or taking care of others. The symptoms of burnout are usually managed by taking a break, re-charging and indulging in enjoyable activities.

On the other hand, depression is a diagnosable mental health condition that can have serious consequences if left untreated. Some of the common symptoms of depression include sleep problems, memory issues, and fatigue, which can also be observed in burnout. However, depression has other unique symptoms, including loss of interest in activities you previously enjoyed, change in libido, persistent sadness or emptiness, irritability or anger, low self-esteem, withdrawal from social situations, changes in appetite, feelings of hopelessness, and even thoughts of suicide.

Unlike burnout, depression may not have a specific cause, and it may continue even after the stressor is gone. Seeking professional help is essential if you suspect that you may have depression. Treatment may involve therapy, medication, or a combination of both.

In addition to the symptoms mentioned above, other signs that may indicate the presence of anxiety, depression or burnout include:

  • Difficulty concentrating
  • Frequent mood swings
  • Difficulty sleeping or oversleeping
  • Lack of motivation
  • Decreased productivity
  • Physical symptoms such as headaches, stomach aches, or muscle tension.

It’s important to be aware of these symptoms and seek help if they persist or interfere with your daily life functioning.
